현대미술의 새로운 패러다임 선언

[칼럼] 현대미술에서 아날로그 기법과 디지털 기술을 결합한 작업은 이미 다양한 형태로 존재해왔다. 그러나 이를 개념적으로 지칭하는 독자적 용어는 없었다. 나는 이 공백을 메우기 위해 새로운 선언을 내놓는다.

내가 제안하는 Analog-Digital Fusion Art(아날로그-디지털 융합 미술)은 전통적 아날로그 기법과 첨단 디지털 기술을 결합해 새로운 미적 경험을 창출하는 현대미술의 흐름을 의미한다. 이는 단순한 혼합이 아니라, 매체의 경계를 허물고 예술의 본질을 탐구하는 패러다임적 선언이다.

국제적으로 Hybrid Art, Hybrid Aesthetics 같은 담론이 있었지만 주로 현상 묘사에 머물렀다. Analog-Digital Fusion Art는 이를 넘어, 아날로그와 디지털의 융합을 독자적으로 명명하고 선언함으로써 현대미술의 새로운 패러다임을 제시한다. 이 개념은 예술사적 맥락 속에서 새로운 장르적 흐름을 규정하는 독창적 시도다.

나는 이 선언이 예술사적으로 새로운 흐름을 열었으며, 작가적 차원에서도 개념적 권리와 저작적 기반을 마련했다는 점에서 의미가 크다고 본다. 또한 한국에서 제안된 이 개념은 국제적 담론으로 확장될 여지를 지닌다는 점에서 문화적 의의 역시 깊다.

Analog-Digital Fusion Art는 학술적 무게감과 독창성을 동시에 지닌 개념이다. 나는 이 선언이 한국 미술계를 넘어 국제적 예술 언어로 자리매김할 가능성을 품고 있다고 믿는다.

Analog-Digital Fusion Art

- A Declaration of a New Paradigm in Contemporary Art

In contemporary art, the fusion of analog techniques and digital technologies has already been attempted in diverse forms. Brushstrokes, printmaking, and photography have encountered algorithms, artificial intelligence, and interactive media, creating new modes of expression. Yet, a distinct conceptual term to define this phenomenon has been absent. At this point, I make a new declaration.

I propose Analog-Digital Fusion Art as a paradigm that combines traditional analog methods with advanced digital technologies to generate new aesthetic experiences. This is not a mere mixture of techniques, but a conceptual declaration that dismantles boundaries between media and explores the essence of art itself.

Internationally, discourses such as Hybrid Art and Hybrid Aesthetics have existed, but they largely remained descriptive. Analog-Digital Fusion Art goes beyond these, naming and declaring the fusion of analog and digital as a new paradigm in contemporary art. This concept is not simply a label, but an original attempt to define a new artistic current within the context of art history.

I believe this declaration has opened a new trajectory in art history, while also establishing a foundation of conceptual rights and authorship for the artist. Moreover, the fact that this concept was proposed in Korea carries cultural significance, as it holds potential to expand into international discourse.
