현대미술가 이우환(李禹煥, 1936~)의 미술관이 부산시 해운대구 APEC로 58, 부산시립미술관 별관에 자리하고 있다. 일본 나오시마에 있는 이우환 미술관에 이어 그의 두 번째 미술관이다.

‘이우환 공간’이라 이름 붙여진 이 미술관에서는 작가의 작품세계를 보여주는 다양한 작품들이 방문객과 조우한다. 존재의 의미를 담은 「점으로부터(From Point)」, 시공간의 관계를 음미하는 「선으로부터(From Line)」, 존재와 본질의 화두를 던지는 돌·철판 조각과 설치미술 등이 전시되어 있다.

이우환은 미술관의 건축 설계와 공간 구성에도 직접 참여했다. 그는 한국을 대표하는 세계적인 현대미술가로, 가공되지 않은 자연의 물질이 지닌 본질과 존재론적 의미를 탐구하는 일본의 모노파(物派) 운동을 주도했다. 그의 작품 세계의 기저가 된 동양적 사유는 오늘날 다양한 분야에서 독자적인 현대미술의 예술 언어로 자리 잡고 있다. 글·사진｜강경호 (현대미술가, 현대개념미술가)

The art museum of contemporary artist Lee Ufan (李禹煥, born 1936) is located at 58 APEC-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan, as an annex of the Busan Museum of Art. It is his second museum, following the Lee Ufan Museum in Naoshima, Japan.

Named Space Lee Ufan, this museum presents a wide range of works that reflect the artist’s unique artistic world. Visitors encounter pieces such as From Point, which explores the meaning of existence; From Line, which contemplates the relationship between time and space; and sculptures and installations made of stone and steel plates that pose questions about existence and essence.

Lee Ufan was directly involved in the architectural design and spatial composition of the museum. He is a globally renowned contemporary artist representing Korea, and a leading figure in Japan’s Mono-ha (School of Things) movement, which investigates the essence and ontological meaning of unprocessed natural materials. His Eastern philosophical approach, which underpins his artistic vision, has become a distinctive artistic language in contemporary art across various fields today.
